This large bowl has dramatic markings and natural, rich colors from the wood fire process. Melted wood ash and flame impingement contribute to the unique qualities of each piece. Inside a selection of shells were carefully placed, creating a unique pattern. Placement in the kiln, heat, atmosphere and type of wood used to stoke the kiln all play a part in the outcome. Glazed by natural wood ash, this beautiful basin is smooth and lightweight for its size. It is fully functional for serving food, and/or a stunning visual accent in a special spot.
