Turkey

My favorite place in Turkey was Cappadocia:  a historical region in central Turkey with exceptional naturally occurring rock formations and caves.  This area is famous for it’s ceramic art, and the potter is revered there. Driving through towns I observed statues of potters (not military heroes) in the town squares!  This region was the home of the early Hittite culture, and many workshops had a Hittite-style wheel that was used for tourist demonstrations.
